Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Indonesian Presidential Palace announced on November 4th that the giant panda "Hu Chun," residing in Indonesia, successfully gave birth to a cub on November 27th at the Bogor Sawali Safari Park. This is the first giant panda cub born in the "Land of a Thousand Islands."
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto named the panda cub "Satrio Wiratama," with the nickname "Rio," meaning "a noble knight, brave and virtuous," reflecting Indonesia's aspirations in promoting ecological protection and cultural exchange.
Cai Yasheng, founder of the Bogor Sawali Safari Park, told a reporter from China News Service that the panda cub is currently in good health. At five days old, it weighed 228 grams, and preliminary examinations suggest it is male. He said that the arrival of this new life is not only a source of pride and honor for Indonesia, but also a symbol of the deepening friendly relations between the two countries.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Indonesia, and this good news adds a new and vivid footnote to the cultural exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.
In September 2017, male giant panda "Cai Tao" and female giant panda "Hu Chun" from the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda arrived in Jakarta to begin their stay in Indonesia. The two pandas are deeply loved by the Indonesian people, making Indonesia the 16th country in the world to obtain the right to raise giant pandas.
Cai Yasheng explained that the successful birth of the cub is the latest achievement in giant panda cooperation and exchange between Indonesia and China. The Chinese side dispatched an expert team to provide professional support, ensuring the healthy development of both mother and cub.
"The arrival of the panda cub will attract more Indonesian people to visit, bringing more joy to the Indonesian people, especially children," he said. (End)
