Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) reports that Thailand's preserved fruit export market to China has broad growth potential. Low-sugar dried and preserved fruits, particularly longan, banana, pineapple, and mango, suitable for all ages, are poised to become popular on Chinese consumers' tables.

According to the Commercial Counselor's Office of the Thai Consulate in Kunming, which was contacted by the Department of International Trade Promotion of the Thai Ministry of Commerce, China's preserved and dried fruit market was valued at 146.2 billion yuan in 2023 and is expected to increase to 335.3 billion yuan by 2028. Consumer habits also show a high repeat purchase rate for preserved fruit in China.

According to iMedia Research, women make up the majority of preserved and dried fruit consumers, with middle-income individuals aged 31-40 accounting for nearly 60%, while those aged 20-30 account for 27.7%. The proportion of senior citizens and those under 20 is relatively low.

In terms of income, the highest proportion (43.9%) is those earning between 5,000 and 10,000 yuan per month, while those earning between 10,000 and 15,000 yuan per month account for 33.3%. Those earning between less than 5,000 yuan and more than 15,000 yuan account for approximately 11%. Chinese consumers have embraced the consumption of preserved fruit as a form of leisure, enjoying it while traveling and at gatherings.

In terms of sales channels, over half purchases are made through e-commerce platforms, although in-store preserved fruit sales have also seen an upward trend in recent years. For example, Thai preserved fruit and dried fruit products, such as durian, bananas, chocolate, and mangoes, are becoming increasingly popular in China.

For Thai preserved fruit and dried fruit sellers, WeChat, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu are all excellent online sales channels. They should also actively promote local offline stores to expand their customer base.
