Vietnam Coast Guard and Indonesian Coast Guard strengthen cooperation to contribute to peace, prosperity and development

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On August 26, a delegation led by Rear Admiral Ngo Binh Minh, Commander of the Third Region Command of the Vietnam Coast Guard, who was on a working visit to Indonesia, paid a courtesy call on Indonesian Coast Guard leaders and co-chaired a bilateral meeting.

  Rear Admiral Ngo Binh Minh emphasized that the visit of the Coast Guard vessel 8001 and the Vietnamese Coast Guard delegation held significant political and diplomatic importance, serving as a practical activity to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia (1955-2025).

  This visit aimed to strengthen friendly relations between the two coast guards, consolidate mutual trust, provide opportunities for experience exchange and effective coordination in addressing traditional and non-traditional security challenges, ensure maritime safety, conduct search and rescue operations in various sea areas and their respective national territories, and actively contribute to regional peace, security, and friendship.

  Vice Admiral Irvansyah of the Indonesian Maritime Safety Agency (Bakamla) believed that this visit would help promote cooperation between the two forces and strengthen the solidarity and friendship between the two governments and peoples.

  Rear Admiral Ngo Binh Minh, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard Region 3, and Rear Admiral Didong Rio Duta Purwokuntjoro, Deputy Minister of Policy and Strategy of the Indonesian Maritime Safety Agency, co-chaired a bilateral meeting. Both sides agreed that the recent cooperation between the two coast guards has become increasingly close and pragmatic, and will make a positive contribution to peace, prosperity, and sustainable development in all maritime areas.

  Currently, Vietnam has completed the formal procedures for joining the ASEAN Maritime Enforcement Agency Regional Cooperation Forum, providing an opportunity to enhance understanding and strengthen multilateral cooperation, including relations between Vietnam and Indonesia.

  At the meeting, both sides also identified some cooperation areas for 2026, including continuing the effective implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding on Maritime Cooperation; maintaining ship visits, exchanges, training, and joint exercises; and sharing information and experience in law enforcement and maritime search and rescue.

  Ngo Binh Minh emphasized that the meeting's outcomes fully reflect the friendly cooperative relationship between the two forces and make an important contribution to maintaining regional peace, stability, and friendly maritime areas.

  On the same day, officers and soldiers of the Vietnam Coast Guard vessel 8001 and a working delegation from the Vietnam Coast Guard also conducted sports exchanges and traditional games with Indonesian coast guard officers and soldiers, further enhancing the solidarity and friendship between the two forces.
