A car-train collision in Indonesia has killed nine people.

  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – A train collided with a car in Tebing Tinggi, North Sumatra, Indonesia, on the 21st. Indonesian Railways confirmed on the 22nd that the accident had resulted in nine deaths.

  Preliminary investigations by local police indicate that at approximately 6:30 PM on the 21st, a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) carrying nine people entered an unguarded railway crossing in Tebing Tinggi and collided with a train. The vehicle was dragged for approximately 300 meters after the impact.

  North Sumatra traffic police stated that eight passengers died at the scene, and one person died later in hospital.

  According to Indonesian media reports, the nine deceased included a two-year-old child, a six-year-old child, and an 80-year-old elderly person.

  The North Sumatra operations department of Indonesian Railways expressed its condolences to the victims and appealed to road users to increase their safety awareness. It is reported that the passenger train sounded its horn multiple times as a warning before the accident. (End)
