Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – An Indonesian government official stated that newly elected President Prabowo Subiyanto and Vice President Gibran Rakabumin Raka have outlined a national development plan, which includes a goal of building 15 million houses for the country's poor.

According to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Indonesia, thousands of poor people live in areas lacking basic necessities such as running water, electricity, and internet access. Therefore, the housing project for the poor is part of the government's efforts to help people achieve a stable life.

Hashim Djojohadikusumo, head of President-elect Prabowo's special task force, stated that the new government has set a target of building 15 million houses within its five-year term, meaning 3 million houses will be built for the poor each year. Hashim indicated that of these 3 million houses, 100 will be in urban areas and 200 in rural areas. This policy will create numerous new job opportunities.

Hashim believes that the plan needs to be considered from multiple perspectives, including finance, land acquisition, building materials, permits, and assistance to the target communities. This work requires not only general policies but also groundbreaking initiatives. Given the current nationwide shortage of approximately 12.7 million homes in Indonesia, the plan to build 300 homes annually is expected to meet current housing needs. (End)
