Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tunpu Culture Conference, hosted by the Publicity Department of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, was held on the 9th in Anshun City, Guizhou Province.
The conference, themed "Exploring the Historical Significance, Contemporary Value, and Core Connotation of Tunpu Culture," aimed to further delve into and comprehensively present the development trajectory, rich connotations, historical significance, and contemporary value of Tunpu culture, continuously enhancing its influence and allowing it to shine with contemporary brilliance, thus better shaping Guizhou's cultural image and strengthening cultural confidence.
Tunpu culture is an important component of Guizhou's distinctive culture, carrying the historical memory of the fusion and coexistence of the Central Plains culture genes of the Ming Dynasty and Guizhou's local culture. It is a vivid portrayal of the diversity of Guizhou's ethnic cultures. The Tunpu people live side-by-side with surrounding ethnic groups, interacting seamlessly and demonstrating a harmonious coexistence and development of cultures that are different yet beautiful.
"Tunpu culture is a vivid microcosm of the 'pluralistic unity' characteristic of Chinese civilization, a 'grand culture' integrating multiple cultural characteristics. Its academic research value, transcending time and national boundaries, is increasingly prominent." Mao Peiqi, Professor at Renmin University of China, Researcher at the Ming and Qing Research Center of Peking University, Chief Consultant of the Chinese Ming History Society, and Chairman of the Academic Committee of the Research and Promotion Project for Tunpu Culture and Other Historical Cultures, spoke on behalf of the Academic Committee: Under the contemporary theme of promoting cultural prosperity and building a culturally strong nation, the contemporary value of Tunpu culture is becoming increasingly prominent. It is not only a "living fossil" for looking back at history and understanding the continuity, unity, and inclusiveness of Chinese civilization, but also a spiritual "resource pool" for the future.
"We should take Tunpu culture, Anshun culture, and Guizhou culture as our foundation; but we should also consciously create conditions to go beyond Tunpu, Anshun, and Guizhou cultures, turning our thoughts and life perspectives towards China and the world, reality and the future." Qian Liqun, Senior Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University, shared his insights on the theme of "Understanding the Land Beneath Our Feet—Reflections and Discussions on the Study of Guizhou Local Culture."
The conference is the main event of the "Tunpu: Six Hundred Years of Home and Country—Tunpu Culture Exchange and Dissemination Series Activities," including the opening ceremony, the main forum, and sub-forums on "Construction of Tunpu Culture's Disciplinary System, Academic System, and Discourse System," as well as the Academic Committee meeting of the Tunpu Culture and Other Historical and Cultural Research and Promotion Project; the sub-forums on "Six Hundred Years of Ancient Charm, Echoes of the New Era—Exploring the 'Out-of-the-Circle' Path of Tunpu Culture" and "Tunpu Culture and the Construction of a Shared Spiritual Home." A series of activities, including a Ming Dynasty-style market and field research, will also be held concurrently. (End)
