Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Myanmar's Ministry of Health announced that a special monitoring and screening operation is currently underway at Yangon International Airport to prevent the importation of various infectious diseases, including Nipah virus, that could potentially trigger a public health emergency.
Yangon International Airport is strictly adhering to established epidemic prevention guidelines, conducting health screenings on all arriving passengers. Given the recent Nipah virus outbreak in West Bengal, India, the airport has specifically strengthened its monitoring of passengers arriving from India, focusing on screening for fever and other suspected symptoms consistent with Nipah virus infection.
Simultaneously, the airport is also promoting health education on Nipah virus prevention, distributing leaflets and posting informational posters to passengers to disseminate virus protection knowledge. The airport is also actively coordinating with relevant departments to implement various disease prevention and control measures, strengthening the public health security defense line.
According to the Ministry of Health, as of now, no suspected cases of Nipah virus infection have been found in the special monitoring and screening of passengers on the MAI scheduled flight from Kolkata, West Bengal, India to Yangon.
In addition to Yangon International Airport, Mandalay International Airport has also upgraded its Nipah virus monitoring and screening efforts to strengthen public health security at Myanmar's airports.
