Myanmar continues its crackdown on telecom fraud and online gambling, arresting multiple suspects and seizing locations

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government attaches great importance to combating telecom fraud and online gambling, considering these illegal activities a threat to global security and listing it as a key national responsibility. It is fully committed to promoting related crackdowns to ensure that such activities have no foothold within Myanmar. Currently, Myanmar is not only coordinating with its domestic forces but also working closely with neighboring governments to form a joint force against these activities.

  According to tips from concerned citizens, online fraud and gambling activities are mainly concentrated in the area around Wa Nam Min village, near Jing Lun village in Kali district, Kun Hsing township, Shan State (South). Therefore, a joint team composed of security forces from various regions and states combating telecom fraud and online gambling has conducted comprehensive work, including aerial reconnaissance, ground investigations, and area searches, to accurately identify the targets involved.

  At 5:30 PM on January 29, the joint team discovered a suspected building 500 meters south of Wa Nam Min village and began a search. Although no suspects were apprehended, a large number of locations and facilities involved in the case were seized in accordance with the law, including three workplaces measuring 100 feet long and 30 feet wide, 23 residential buildings measuring 15 feet by 15 feet, one canteen measuring 40 feet long and 20 feet wide, one food warehouse measuring 80 feet by 20 feet, one generator shed measuring 20 feet by 10 feet, three guard posts, two two-story residential buildings measuring 60 feet by 20 feet, three tents measuring 12 feet by 10 feet, and two generators.

  On January 30, the operation continued. At 11:30 a.m. that day, security forces arrested 221 Chinese citizens engaged in telecommunications fraud and online gambling activities approximately 3,000 meters east of Wamunnaming village, seizing 15 all-in-one computers, 6 laptops, and 2 Starlink devices. At approximately 1:00 PM, seven more Chinese citizens were apprehended 5,000 meters southeast of Wamnamming village. A large quantity of related premises and equipment were also seized, including two tents (30ft x 20ft and 60ft x 20ft respectively), two workplaces (120ft x 30ft and 80ft x 30ft respectively), a 50ft x 50ft kitchen, a 40ft x 20ft dining room, three 60ft x 30ft residential buildings, one 30ft x 20ft dormitory building, a 20ft x 20ft generator room, 80 all-in-one computers, 11 Starlink trays, and two generators.

  At 1:30 PM on January 31, security forces achieved further success, apprehending five more Chinese citizens engaged in online fraud and gambling activities 1,000 meters east of Wamnamming village.

  Currently, the seized equipment will be processed according to established procedures, and the arrested individuals will be punished according to law. Myanmar authorities stated that they will continue to investigate leads, track down those involved, and take further measures in accordance with the law to resolutely curb the spread of telecommunications fraud and online gambling.
