
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the afternoon of January 27, the Secretariat Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee (RBC) solemnly opened at the Poipet International Border Crossing in Banteay Meanchey Province. The two-day meeting (January 27-28) was attended by representatives from the Cambodian 5th Military Region and the Thai 1st Military Region, with the ASEAN Observer Group invited to monitor the proceedings.
According to Cambodian Ministry of National Defense spokesperson Mary Socheat, the meeting brought together the core military and diplomatic forces of both sides. The Cambodian delegation was led by Sok Khin Phet, Director of the Secretariat of the Cambodian Regional Border Military Committee, while the Thai delegation was led by Pita Yakkul Bosuvan, Director of the Secretariat of the Thai Regional Border Military Committee.

During the meeting, both sides held in-depth discussions on key agendas regarding border security and cooperation, and formally exchanged relevant legal and technical documents. The main task of this Secretariat Meeting was to lay the foundation for the special meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Regional Border Committee scheduled for January 29, ensuring the efficient progress of the high-level meeting.
This meeting is an important step in implementing the spirit of the Joint Statement of the Third Special Meeting of the Cambodia-Thailand Border Military Committee on December 27, 2025. The meeting emphasized ensuring the full and effective implementation of the previously reached joint statement; further enhancing mutual trust between the two militaries and governments through a regular communication mechanism; maintaining peace and tranquility in the border area; promoting the restoration of normalcy in border order; and creating a favorable environment for bilateral trade and people-to-people exchanges.

The convening of this meeting marks a solid step forward for Cambodia and Thailand in jointly addressing border challenges and building a harmonious border relationship.
