Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Chen Hai, Deputy Director and Spokesperson of Chongqing Customs, introduced at a press conference held by the Chongqing Municipal Government Information Office on the 26th that, according to customs statistics, Chongqing's total foreign trade import and export reached 800.68 billion yuan (RMB) in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 12%.

Chen Hai stated that under the challenges of multiple pressures, Chongqing's import and export demonstrated strong resilience and vitality, showing a good development trend of stable volume and improved quality.

In 2025, Chongqing's total exports reached 558.73 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.2%. Among them, the city's main advantageous product, notebook computer exports, reached 152.15 billion yuan, accounting for 30.2% of China's notebook computer exports, ranking first in the country; mobile phones, automobiles, and motorcycles exported 56.7 billion yuan, 53.03 billion yuan, and 26.47 billion yuan respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 35.4%, 23%, and 29.5% respectively. The export growth rate of the "new three items" (electric vehicles, photovoltaic products, and lithium batteries) reached 73.5% year-on-year.

In 2025, Chongqing traded with approximately 230 countries and regions, and achieved positive growth in imports and exports with nearly 180 countries and regions. ASEAN and the EU were Chongqing's two largest trading partners, with annual imports and exports reaching 132.65 billion yuan and 108.24 billion yuan respectively, representing year-on-year growth of 12.6% and 10.2%.

In 2026, Chongqing Customs will focus on three key areas, prioritizing support for building a comprehensive inland open hub to help Chongqing's foreign trade import and export get off to a good start during the 15th Five-Year Plan period.

First, it will highlight achievements in reform. It will deepen the special action to facilitate cross-border trade, expand the pilot reforms of customs supervision such as inspection and quarantine at the destination, promote the direct flow of high-quality renewable resources, key mineral products, and essential commodities to the inland hinterland, and ensure the security and stability of the industrial and supply chains.

Second, it will strengthen internal and external connectivity. Relying on the global "Smart Customs" online cooperation platform and the China-ASEAN Customs' mechanism for deepening the interconnection of the International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, it will explore institutional innovations for facilitating land trade clearance and build a multimodal transport smart supervision system with Chongqing as the hub.

Third, we will promote innovative trade development. We will deepen the implementation of the free trade zone upgrading strategy, steadily promote the transformation and upgrading of the seven comprehensive bonded zones, and support the innovative development of new business forms and models such as bonded repair and remanufacturing, thereby consolidating new competitive advantages in open development.
