Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The "Book-Fragrant Railway · Bashu High-Speed Rail Handheld Book Gallery" public welfare project was launched in Chongqing on the 2nd. This is China's first cross-provincial high-speed rail reading network, aiming to directly address the passenger demand of over 50 million passengers annually on the Chengdu-Chongqing high-speed rail line, embedding high-quality public cultural services into the high-speed rail travel experience and creating a "library on the journey."

The project is jointly constructed by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development and China Railway Chengdu Group Co., Ltd., initially covering 17 high-speed rail stations in Chongqing.

On the same day, 17 "Book-Fragrant Railway · Chongqing 'Handheld Book' Reading Stations" were simultaneously launched at the 17 high-speed rail stations. Each station is equipped with customized intelligent self-service borrowing cabinets, providing passengers with free portable "Bashu Handheld Book" borrowing services. Twelve stations also simultaneously built high-speed rail reading spaces for passengers, with a total area of over 500 square meters. In addition to on-site reading, passengers can borrow up to 8 books at a time without a deposit through the intelligent self-service borrowing cabinets, with a loan period of 30 days and one renewal allowed.

Reporters learned that the "Ba Palm Book," as its name suggests, is a small book, about the size of a palm when opened, making it easy to hold in one hand and suitable for reading in a train carriage. It offers the advantage of completing a single book during fragmented time.

Another highlight of the project is its comprehensive interconnection with the Sichuan-Chongqing reading "one-card" system. Passengers can return books at 249 public libraries in Sichuan and Chongqing using their personal ID cards or social security cards from both regions. Books can also be borrowed and returned at over 2,000 service points within Chongqing, including high-speed rail stations, self-service borrowing kiosks on Chongqing's rail transit, and city libraries, creating a new cross-provincial reading service network of "one card in hand, reading throughout Sichuan and Chongqing."

Zhong Qianyuan, a first-level inspector of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, stated that the project aims to bring high-quality cultural resources directly to the grassroots level through the integration of "high-speed rail + reading." In the future, the project will continue to expand high-speed rail reading spaces and conduct reading promotion activities during peak travel periods such as the Spring Festival and National Day.
