Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the evening of the 29th, a promotional event for the cooperation between Chengkou County, Chongqing, and the Greater Bay Area in the region's distinctive agricultural, cultural, and tourism industries was held in Guangzhou. Chengkou cured pork, mountain chicken, traditional Chinese medicine, lacquerware, and other characteristic "Bayu" products were showcased, attracting widespread attention from citizens and businesspeople in the Greater Bay Area.
This promotional event was part of Guangdong Province's 2026 "Consumption Assistance Spring Festival Action" series of activities, focusing on "Chengkou Cured Pork," a time-honored brand and Chongqing municipal-level intangible cultural heritage. Today, Chengkou cured pork has developed into a wealth-generating industry with an annual output exceeding 12,000 tons and a total industrial chain value exceeding 3 billion yuan, making it a highly representative local delicacy of Chongqing.
Teng Yuandong, Director of the Standing Committee of the Chengkou County People's Congress, explained that the local 72.8% forest coverage, combined with zinc- and selenium-rich soil, pure water sources, and a unique climate, nurtures the natural flavor of the cured pork. Its production adheres to traditional methods, using oak and other fruitwoods for slow-cooking over a fire for more than 45 days. "We hope that through this 'encounter on the tip of the tongue,' more friends will taste and fall in love with Chengkou," said a representative.

Today, Chengkou cured pork has moved beyond the traditional farmhouse workshop model. The three-tiered product system—black label, gold label, and green label—displayed on-site clearly demonstrates its industrialized and standardized development path. "We not only retain the traditional whole piece of cured pork, but also develop 40 kinds of refined processed products in 6 categories, including casual small packages, cured pork sausages, and cured pork sauce, precisely catering to modern consumer demands," said the head of the Chengkou County Cured Pork Industry Task Force.
Wu Rongkai, president of the Foshan Nanhai District Catering Service Industry Association, introduced four fusion dishes on-site, including "Sugarcane-Smoked Chengkou Cured Pork," which gives the cured pork a sweet aftertaste, and "Curned Pork and Clam Fried Rice," incorporating the distinctive clam of western Guangdong, providing new ideas for catering innovation in the Greater Bay Area.

In addition, Zhang Ru, the cultural and tourism promotion officer for Chengkou County, introduced four boutique tourism routes: summer health and wellness, intangible cultural heritage experience, red tourism, and ecological adventure. She sincerely invited tourists from the Greater Bay Area to visit Chengkou and immerse themselves in the local scenery throughout the four seasons.
During the signing ceremony, the Guangdong Consumer Assistance Alliance signed a framework agreement with the Chengkou County People's Government; the Guangzhou Consumer Assistance Alliance and platforms such as Yuanfang Haowu reached product purchase and sales intention agreements with the Chengkou Cured Pork Industry Association.
