Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – On May 23, the Yunnan Provincial Emergency Management Department announced that the Yunnan Provincial Finance Department and the Provincial Emergency Management Department had allocated 80 million yuan in provincial-level natural disaster relief funds to 16 prefectures and cities and 3 directly administered counties on May 21. These funds will be used to subsidize flood relief and rescue efforts since the start of the flood season.

Since entering the rainy season on May 23, Yunnan Province has experienced 12 rounds of heavy rainfall, resulting in frequent and severe torrential rains and floods. This year's rainy season is characterized by three main features: large total rainfall, high intensity of torrential rains, rapid flood rises, and numerous rivers exceeding warning levels; and numerous disasters and severe flooding. Since the start of the flood season on May 1, the province's average rainfall has been 468.4 mm, 44.4% higher than the average for the same period in previous years and 24.9% higher than the average for the previous year. Floods have affected 112 counties (cities, districts) in 16 prefectures (cities), impacting 818,900 people. Water conservancy projects have suffered losses of 490 million yuan. Nujiang's Gongshan, Zhaotong's Yongshan and Weixin counties, and Lincang's Fengqing county have all suffered successive floods, making the flood and drought disaster prevention situation extremely severe and complex.

In response, the Yunnan Provincial Department of Finance and the Provincial Emergency Management Department have allocated 80 million yuan in provincial natural disaster relief funds, requiring that the funds be used effectively to ensure that all funds are used for flood disaster relief and rescue work, and that the special funds be used safely and under proper supervision.
