Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – At 8:48 PM on March 14th, the Y764 "Golden Years • Western Yunnan Leisure Tour" senior citizen tourism special train slowly departed from Kunming Station for Lijiang, marking the official launch of Yunnan's first senior citizen tourism special train in 2025. This initiative is an innovative practice by the railway and cultural tourism departments to implement the national silver economy strategy and serve the needs of an age-friendly society.
It is understood that the "Golden Years • Western Yunnan Leisure Tour" senior citizen tourism special train is a tourism special train specially created for senior citizens by China Railway Kunming Bureau Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Railway Kunming Bureau") in conjunction with China Tourism Group Investment and Asset Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Tourism Asset"), with "upgrading railway services to be age-friendly" as its core, through optimizing train facilities and integrating local tourism resources.

As an innovative model integrating "railway + tourism + age-friendly" travel, the special train connects three major destinations—Lijiang, Baoshan, and Tengchong—with a five-day, four-night itinerary. It uniquely combines "onboard rest + offboard experiences" for age-friendly tourism, providing safe, comfortable, and high-quality services for elderly passengers and effectively promoting the upgrading of the silver economy tourism industry.

"Railways are not only a means of transportation but also an important component of public services. The silver economy special train not only meets the needs of the elderly for quality travel but also revitalizes tourism resources along the railway line," said a relevant official from the Kunming Railway Bureau. The official added that the Kunming Railway Bureau will next focus on "A Life Called Yunnan," combining social and tourist needs to launch special trains such as "Flowers Bloom in All Seasons • 'Fragrance' Meets Yunnan," special trains for flower viewing, sports events, and festival activities, and develop more age-friendly routes offering "slow travel and in-depth experiences," contributing to the coordinated development of the silver economy and the region.
