Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 9th, it was learned from Zhaotong High-tech Investment Waterway Investment and Development Co., Ltd. that on November 8th, the container ship "Haozhe 002," carrying phosphate ore, slowly departed from the central operating area of Shuifu Port, marking the official maiden voyage of the "Shuifu Port-Yichang" container liner route. This signifies a deep connection between Shuifu Port, known as the "First Port of the Yangtze River," and a key port in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, adding another thousand-kilometer logistics artery to the Yangtze River.
As Yunnan Province's "Northern Gateway" connecting the Yangtze River to the sea, Shuifu Port is located in Shuifu City, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. Situated at the intersection of three major national strategies—the Yangtze River Economic Belt, the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and the Dianzhong Urban Economic Circle—it is a crucial node where the Jinsha River connects to the Yangtze River and is Yunnan's only deep-water port capable of navigating 3,000-ton vessels year-round, enabling direct river-sea transport. Currently, the port area has six specialized berths in operation, possessing comprehensive service capabilities for loading, unloading, warehousing, transshipment, distribution, and multimodal transport of bulk commodities such as containers, general cargo, and bulk cargo. Its annual cargo throughput has exceeded ten million tons.
The newly opened "Shuifu Port-Yichang" shipping route covers 1,200 kilometers, utilizing the Yangtze River's golden waterway to achieve direct cargo transport with a voyage cycle of only 10 days. The operation of this route will effectively strengthen Shuifu Port's functional positioning and accelerate its transformation into a "core logistics hub" in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Through innovation in "bulk-to-container" conversion, multimodal transport integration, and exploration of "port, shipping, and trade" integration, it will promote the development of logistics and transportation in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in a better direction.
In the future, with increasingly stable route operations and continuous expansion of business scope, the "Shuifu Port-Yichang" container liner route will become an economic link connecting Yunnan and Hubei provinces and radiating to the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River. It will not only deepen regional industrial cooperation along the route but also provide a greener and more efficient logistics solution for bulk commodity transportation in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, injecting lasting momentum into regional economic growth.
