  Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Speaking at the 79th anniversary celebration of Vietnam's National Day held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Hong Kong on the evening of September 19, Hong Kong Secretary for Justice Lam Ting-kwok stated that Vietnam and Hong Kong have long been trustworthy partners.

  According to data from the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department in 2023, bilateral trade between Vietnam and Hong Kong reached US$31.3 billion. Vietnam is Hong Kong's second-largest trading partner in ASEAN, after Singapore. Vietnam is also Hong Kong's seventh-largest trading partner globally. Vietnam is Hong Kong's eighth-largest export market, with exports reaching US$17.1 billion, and its fifth-largest import market, with imports reaching US$14.2 billion.

  Mr. Lam Ting-kwok also stated that providing legal services is an area with enormous potential for cooperation between Vietnam and Hong Kong.

  Previously, in his opening remarks, Vietnamese Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau Le Duc Hanh emphasized that since Vietnam implemented its reform policy, Hong Kong has played a vital role in Vietnam's economic progress. Hong Kong serves as a crucial gateway for Vietnamese goods entering the Chinese market and the global trade network, and is also a vital investment area for Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area businesses investing in Vietnam.

  Ms. Le Duc Han stated that beyond traditional sectors, Vietnam and Hong Kong can explore cooperation in new areas based on their respective development goals, such as financial and legal services, technology, innovation, aviation, and human resource development. Ms. Le Duc Han believes that the relationship between Vietnam and Hong Kong has enormous development potential and is expected to bring significant economic and cultural benefits to both sides.

  Ms. Le Duc Han revealed that recently, Hong Kong organizations and individuals donated funds through the Vietnamese Consulate General in Hong Kong to aid in disaster relief and reconstruction efforts in Vietnam. (End)
