
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Several universities in Hong Kong held flag-raising ceremonies on July 1st to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) held a flag-raising ceremony that morning to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland and the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. University leaders, faculty, and students attended. HKU stated that the flag-raising ceremony symbolizes HKU's commitment to the nation and its important role in Hong Kong's past, present, and future. HKU also reiterated its commitment to promoting Hong Kong's development into an international education hub, while upholding its belief in pursuing academic excellence and knowledge expansion for the benefit of Hong Kong, the nation, and the world.
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held a flag-raising ceremony on its campus that morning. Nearly 200 guests braved the rain to attend, and over 3,700 viewers watched the live stream online. The ceremony was conducted by the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force's drill and flag-raising team, and for the first time, the Auxiliary Police Band performed live. After the ceremony, the guests sang the HKUST anthem together and wished Hong Kong continued prosperity with the support of the nation. The flag-raising ceremony at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) was conducted by the Guangdong Flag Guard and the PolyU Student Flag-Raising Team, with nearly 600 faculty, students, and alumni participating to wish for a prosperous and strong nation and a prosperous and stable Hong Kong. PolyU President Teng Jinguang stated that the university will continue to respond to societal needs with impactful scientific research and innovation, promoting Hong Kong's development into an international innovation and technology center and contributing to the nation's technological self-reliance.

The flag-raising ceremony at the Education University of Hong Kong (EdU) was held on its Tai Po campus. EdU President Li Zijian stated that the flag-raising ceremony helps enhance the national consciousness and sense of national identity among faculty and students. He was pleased to see so many EdU faculty, students, alumni, as well as students and parents from primary schools and kindergartens participating in this solemn and meaningful event.

City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Baptist University, Lingnan University, and Hong Kong Metropolitan University also held flag-raising ceremonies to jointly wish for Hong Kong's continued prosperity and progress. (End)
