
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On March 31, 2026, Sonrudi Purnanak, Acting Minister of European Affairs of Thailand, and Parani Aduliya Pichette, President of the Thai Chapter of the European Business Association (EABC), held talks to exchange in-depth views on deepening trade and investment cooperation between the Thai and EU private sectors and promoting the upgrading of bilateral economic and trade relations. Her Excellency Luisa Ragnar, EU Ambassador to Thailand, and representatives of the European private sector also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the Acting Director-General of the relevant Thai department, the Chairman of the Thai-East African Business Council, and the EU Ambassador delivered opening remarks, highly praising the long-standing, stable, and close partnership between Thailand and the EU. All parties stated that Thailand and the EU are trustworthy partners, upholding shared fundamental values and having formed solid economic and investment ties, with a current emphasis on sustainable development and environmental responsibility. The participants reaffirmed their commitment to continuing negotiations on the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement, noting that related consultations are progressing steadily, aiming to create a more comprehensive, modern, and balanced free trade agreement, and striving to complete negotiations by the end of 2026.

The participants unanimously emphasized the importance of promoting multi-level knowledge and experience transfer from European companies to Thai companies. Capacity building projects and constructive dialogue platforms will effectively enhance Thailand's human capital level, enabling it to better adapt to constantly evolving environmental standards, labor market demands, and global development trends. The parties also pointed out that against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical uncertainty, improving supply chain resilience, enhancing companies' ability to withstand risks, and accelerating the green transformation process have become important common directions for Thai-European economic and trade cooperation.
