  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On March 23, 2026, the first Thailand-EU Security Exchange Meeting was successfully held in Thailand. The meeting was co-chaired by Ms. Somrudi Purnanak, Deputy Minister and Acting Minister of European Affairs of Thailand, and Mr. Cosmin Dobran, Director of Peace, Partnership and Crisis Management at the European External Action Service (EEAS). This marked the first formal launch of a strategic and security dialogue between Thailand and the EU, laying an important foundation for deepening practical cooperation in multiple fields.

  At the meeting, the two sides exchanged in-depth views on global and regional security hotspots and challenges, discussed effective ways to expand practical cooperation, and identified four priority areas for cooperation: first, supporting Thailand's fulfillment of its obligations under the Ottawa Convention and promoting humanitarian demining cooperation; second, jointly combating cyber fraud and other illegal activities; third, strengthening cooperation in cyberspace security; and fourth, deepening practical cooperation in maritime security. It is understood that this security exchange meeting was one of the core agendas of the EU security delegation's visit to Thailand and a key step in promoting comprehensive cooperation in various fields between the two sides.

  As the first strategic and security dialogue platform between Thailand and the EU, this exchange brought together key representatives from the civilian, military, and law enforcement sectors of both sides. The Thai delegation consisted of representatives from key institutions including the Ministry of Defence, the Royal Thai Armed Forces Headquarters, the Thai Mine Action Centre (TMAC), the National Security Council (NSC), the National Cyber ​​Security Agency (NCSA), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Royal Thai Police Anti-Cyber ​​Fraud Center (ACSC). The EU delegation included Brigadier General Darnell Bayev, Chief of Intelligence at the European Military Staff; Ms. Paula Panpaloni, Deputy Deputy Director-General for Asia and the Pacific at the European External Action Service (EEAS); Mr. Giovanni Cremonini, Deputy Director-General of the Maritime Security Division at EEAS; and Ms. Luisa Lager, EU Ambassador to Thailand, among other key officials.
