Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On February 27, 2026, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Puangkchok hosted a working luncheon in Thailand for Kairat Sarebbai, Secretary-General of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). Sarebbai's visit to Thailand was to attend the 13th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD). Azerbai's Ambassador to Thailand, Erchin Raghub Olu Bashirov, also attended the event.

At the luncheon, Sarebbai highly praised Thailand's active role within the CICA framework, particularly acknowledging Thailand's outstanding contributions as a coordinating country in the areas of sustainable development and SME development. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on enhancing CICA's international influence, strengthening synergy between CICA and regional mechanisms such as the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), ASEAN, the Bay of Bengal Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation Initiative (MBTI), and the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, to better benefit CICA member states.

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a multilateral forum initiated by Kazakhstan in 1992. It aims to promote peace, security, and stability in Asia, focusing on five key areas of cooperation: military and political, economic, environmental, new challenges and threats, and people-to-people exchanges. Thailand officially joined CICA in 2004. Azerbaijan will hold the CICA chairmanship from 2024 to 2026 and will host the seventh CICA summit in Baku in October 2026.
