Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On February 14, 2026, His Excellency Vijayawat Isarabakhti, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, attended the side event of the Munich Security Conference – “Among Empires: Middle Powers, Industry, and the Future World Order” – a political and economic forum, delivered a keynote speech, and participated in panel discussions. This forum, hosted by the Asia Bridge Organization, is an important supporting event of the 2026 Munich Security Conference.

In his keynote speech, Deputy Minister Vijayawat focused on the profound adjustments in the global landscape, pointing out that the current intensified geopolitical competition and the fragmentation of the international trade and technology system have significantly enhanced the crucial role of middle powers in maintaining the international order. He reiterated Thailand's firm commitment to upholding the rules-based international order while adhering to strategic autonomy, viewing regional cooperation and international collaboration as core levers for consolidating stability; Thailand will uphold its national interests and principles, continuing to pursue a diplomatic strategy of maintaining balanced relations with major powers. Furthermore, the Deputy Minister emphasized that the democratically elected Thai government will maintain stability and a pro-business orientation, and revealed that negotiations for the Thailand-EU Free Trade Agreement are progressing steadily. On the same day, Deputy Minister Wijawat held a bilateral meeting with Mr. John Brandolino, Acting Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Acting Director-General of the United Nations Office at Vienna. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on cooperative measures to combat online fraud and cybercrime. UNODC identified Thailand as a close partner and formally invited Thailand to participate in the Global Anti-Fraud Summit co-hosted by UNODC and Interpol in March 2026.

During the meeting, the Thai side also announced plans for two important international conferences: in April 2026, Thailand will co-host the “EU-Thailand-ASEAN Regional Anti-Fraud Seminar” with the European Society for West Africa Summit (ESIWA+); and in May 2026, Thailand will co-host the OSCE Asia Conference with Finland, with the theme “Addressing Transnational Threats in the Digital Age by Strengthening Regional Cooperation in Asia and the OSCE.” Thailand has formally invited UNODC to co-host both conferences, aiming to deepen international cooperation in combating fraud and transnational crime governance.
