
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On February 10, 2026, Ms. Sirilak Niyon, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, met with His Excellency Garba Sani, Ambassador of the Republic of Niger to Thailand. Ambassador Garba Sani made a special trip to Thailand to present his credentials to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Prawit Wongsuwan.
During the meeting, Ms. Sirilak Niyon congratulated the Ambassador on his new appointment and exchanged views on promoting the restart of the Thailand-Africa Initiative (TAI)**, aiming to further deepen cooperation between Thailand and Niger and other African countries in various fields. She stated that the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs will fully support the Ambassador in promoting bilateral cooperation, covering areas such as trade, investment, development cooperation, multilateral affairs, and human resource development.

Ms. Sirilak Niyon also suggested that Niger actively utilize the annual scholarships and international training programs offered by the Thai Agency for International Cooperation (TICA) to support talent development in Niger. She also called on Niger to increase its imports of Thai rice to balance the bilateral trade structure and encouraged both sides to send trade delegations to participate in exhibitions such as the Thailand International Food Exhibition (THAIFEX). She also hoped Niger would support Thailand's candidacy for membership in international organizations.
Ambassador Garba Sani expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from the Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He stated that Niger is willing to engage in in-depth cooperation with Thailand in areas where Thailand has extensive experience, such as agriculture, irrigation, electricity, and infrastructure construction.

The Nigerien side reported that the Thai Ambassador to the Republic of Niger (Permanent Representative to Abuja, Nigeria) visited Niger on January 15, 2026, and presented credentials to the Nigerien President. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the recent positive progress in bilateral relations.
