
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On February 12, 2026, the concurrent event of the 2026 Munich Security Conference – “Fraudulent Nations and Crime Factories: Southeast Asia’s Industrialized Fraud Hubs” – was held at the Hans Seidel Foundation headquarters in Munich. His Excellency Vijayawat Isarabakhti, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.
Deputy Minister Vijayawat pointed out that the proliferation of large-scale fraud hubs in Southeast Asia has caused serious economic impacts and poses a direct threat to human security. He highlighted Thailand's comprehensive measures to address this complex issue, including providing assistance to victims and implementing strong law enforcement actions. He emphasized that resolving cross-border fraud requires coordination and cooperation among all stakeholders and outlined Thailand's vision for effectively combating such crimes in the future.

During the event, Deputy Foreign Minister Wijayat held bilateral talks with His Excellency Georg Eisenreich, Minister of Justice of Bavaria, and Mr. Markus Faber, Chairman of the Hans Seidel Foundation. The two sides exchanged in-depth views on cybercrime, particularly cross-border fraud. The German side expressed appreciation for Thailand's proactive measures in combating cybercrime, and both sides agreed that strengthening legal cooperation and intelligence sharing among countries is necessary to address such challenges.

The Thai side introduced during the talks that Thailand will soon be co-hosting two important conferences with the EU: the EU-Thailand-ASEAN Regional Seminar on Combating Fraud, co-hosted with the European Society for West Africa Summit (ESIWA+), and the OSCE Asia Conference: Addressing Transnational Threats in the Digital Age through Strengthening Cooperation in Asia and the OSCE Region, co-hosted with Finland.
Regarding economic cooperation, Bavaria has established a Southeast Asia Trade and Investment Office in Bangkok. The Thai side also formally invited His Excellency Markus Söder, Minister-President of Bavaria, to pay an official visit to Thailand.
