Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment have partnered to host a global press conference for *Jurassic World: Rebirth*, marking a key step in their efforts to integrate the film and tourism industries. The latest installment in this iconic film series premiered on July 2nd, filmed in the scenic provinces of Krabi, Phang Nga, and Trang.
From July 30th to August 3rd, 30 international media representatives, along with director Gareth Edwards and actors Jonathan Bailey, Luna Blaise, David Iaccano, and Audrey Miranda, visited Thailand. The series of events kicked off with a welcome dinner at the luxurious Trisara resort in Phuket, themed around "Sea, Land, and Air." Following this, participants embarked on an immersive tour of key filming locations, reliving classic scenes from the movie – from cliff rappelling at Railay Beach to exploring coastal trails, and even creating original content based on the film's backdrop.
This event further highlighted Thailand's unique appeal as a world-class filming location, its advantages stemming not only from convenient logistical support and abundant natural landscapes, but also from professional production support. The filming of *Jurassic World: Rebirth* alone generated over 400 million baht in revenue for the three southern provinces of Thailand, creating more than 2,200 jobs and significantly enhancing the region's global influence.
This global media event is a key initiative of the Tourism Authority of Thailand's "Location Thailand" project. This project aims to promote Thailand as a tourist destination through global entertainment resources, capitalizing on the "set tour" trend spurred by film and television, rapidly expanding exposure through digital channels, and reigniting international interest in the filming locations of southern Thailand.
Ms. Thapani Kiaphaepur, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, stated, “Thailand is a popular choice for international film and television production not only because of its stunning cliffs, jungles, and coastlines, but also because of its comprehensive professional services. We have world-class teams, modern studios, streamlined licensing processes, and authentic Thai hospitality. We are honored to support stories that inspire real travel. This collaboration with Universal Pictures Family Entertainment perfectly demonstrates how film and tourism can work together to create lasting value for our destinations and communities.”
This partnership, leveraging the global media campaign for *Jurassic World: Rebirth*, cleverly combines storytelling with real-world travel. The campaign goes beyond simple film promotion; it transforms movie scenes into immersive experiences, amplifying the film's impact through global influencers and media coverage, and further enhancing Thailand's appeal as a tourist destination.
Stephanie Lutjens, Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Universal Pictures Family Entertainment, expressed her gratitude at the welcome dinner: “It’s worth mentioning that tonight’s wonderful event would not have been possible without the generous support of the ‘Amazing Thailand’ and the Tourism Authority of Thailand team. Their unwavering commitment to promoting Thai tourism and protecting its natural beauty is truly inspiring, and we are deeply grateful for the excellent partnership we have built.”
According to statistics from the Tourism, Sports and Film Office of Thailand, in the first half of 2025, Thailand hosted the filming of 279 international films, generating over 2.8 billion baht in economic value. Among them, American films had the highest production expenditure at 1.23 billion baht; followed by South Korea (251 million baht), France (211 million baht), Singapore (200 million baht), and Germany (142 million baht). In terms of the number of films filmed, India had the most with 30, slightly higher than South Korea (29), Japan and China (22 each), the United States (20), and France (19). Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Chonburi, Nonthaburi, and Samut Prakan are the five provinces most frequently used for filming.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand's (TAT) film tourism strategy, centered on cash rebates, streamlined processes, and global promotion, continues to attract numerous international blockbusters. In addition to *Jurassic World: Rebirth*, Thailand recently became a major filming location for *Alien: Earth*, which will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on August 13, 2025. As the most expensive foreign drama series ever produced in Thailand in over 30 years, it boasts a budget exceeding 2.8 billion baht, a filming period of nearly two years, spanning seven provinces, and employing over 24,000 Thai staff.
Furthermore, the filming of popular movies such as *White Lotus* Season 3 and *Fast & Furious 9* has further solidified Thailand's reputation as a world-class filming location. The TAT is transforming memorable moments from films into meaningful travel inspiration, turning screen stories into real-life experiences and helping global audiences experience the charm of Thailand more closely.
