Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the morning of April 3rd, local time, the third presidential election of the Union Parliament in Myanmar was held in the Parliament Building in Naypyidaw. Following a secret ballot by the presidential election team composed of all Union Parliament members, General Min Aung Hlaing, candidate from the People's Assembly delegation, was elected president with 429 valid votes. U Nyu Soe, candidate from the Defense Forces delegation (126 votes), and Nan Nin Nyein, candidate from the Nationalities Assembly delegation (29 votes), were elected vice presidents.

A total of 586 Union Parliament members were eligible to attend the election, and 584 were actually present. The Speaker of the Union Parliament, Aung Lin The, presided over the meeting and read out the election agenda, clarifying that the presidential election team must use ballot number 10 and elect the president from among the three vice presidents through a secret ballot. The voting process must be strictly conducted under the supervision of the members of parliament and in accordance with the "Rules for the Election of the President and Vice President." The Speaker also explained in detail the voting process, the criteria for identifying invalid ballots, and other core requirements. According to the election procedures, staff of the Federal Parliament office, in the presence of members of the Electoral College, completed the counting and distribution of ballots. The Speaker of the Federal Parliament, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Speaker of the House of Nationalities, and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, along with all members of the Electoral College, received ballots and cast their votes secretly. During the vote counting phase, staff verified, in accordance with Article 43(k) of the Rules for the Election of the President and Vice President, that both the number of ballots distributed and the number of ballots collected were exactly 584, confirming the validity of the vote.

Subsequently, members of the Presidential Review Committee signed and confirmed the candidates' vote counts on the No. 15 vote count sheet. Speaker Aung Lind announced the results on the spot: General Min Aung Hlaing received 429 votes, U Nieu Soe received 126 votes, and Nan Nini Er received 29 votes. Based on the election rule that "the candidate with the most votes among the three vice presidents is elected president," General Min Aung Hlaing won by a landslide, and U Nieu Soe and Nan Nini Er were elected vice presidents. It is understood that all three candidates were selected through legal procedures: Min Aung Hlaing was nominated by the elected members of the Pyithu Hluttaw (House of Representatives), U Nyu Soe was nominated by the representatives of the defense forces, and Nan Nin Nie came from the representatives of the National Assembly. This election is an important agenda item for the third Union Parliament of Myanmar, marking a crucial step in the formation of the new government. At the end of the meeting, Speaker Aung Lin De announced that the presidential election committee meeting had concluded successfully, and the third day of the Union Parliament's session would resume on the morning of April 6.
