Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Due to concerns about the negative impact of e-cigarettes and related products on public health, especially among teenagers, the Myanmar government has officially issued a ban, completely prohibiting the sale of e-cigarettes and related products.
According to a statement from the Myanmar Ministry of Health, the ban was officially issued on the 18th, strictly prohibiting the import, export, sale, storage, transportation, distribution, use, and sale of e-cigarettes, e-hookahs, and related accessories.
This measure is implemented in accordance with Myanmar's Essential Goods and Services Law, which grants the government the power to strictly control goods that directly affect social welfare and public health.
Kyaw Kan Kaung, Deputy Director of the Public Health Department of the Myanmar Ministry of Health, stated that e-cigarettes are becoming increasingly popular among young people not only in Myanmar but also in many countries around the world. He emphasized that the view that "e-cigarettes are less harmful than traditional cigarettes" is completely wrong.
Myanmar health officials warn that e-cigarette products can directly damage the lungs and contain highly addictive nicotine, heavy metals, and many other harmful substances. Jue Kan Kang stated that the ban is a preventative measure aimed at protecting public health, with a focus on safeguarding the youth population. (End)
