During the meeting with Ambassador Ma Jia, the two sides held a frank and friendly exchange, and discussed in depth the prospects for strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation. Key issues included: reopening border crossings to boost trade; cooperating in the fields of machinery and technology to help Myanmar's goods exported to China meet standards; expanding the categories of duty-free goods to China; and jointly taking measures to protect the economic interests of border communities in both countries.
During the meeting with the Lao Ambassador, the two sides focused on expanding Myanmar's exports of key commodities to Laos, covering agricultural and aquatic products. They also exchanged views on improving the efficiency of the Khentik-Sienko Bridge cross-border crossing (including promoting its upgrade to an international entry and exit point), advancing the construction and development of the Vientiane-Ban Mang border crossing, and other areas requiring continued bilateral coordination, exploring how to further facilitate the cross-border flow of goods and people.
