  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the morning of December 30, 2025, the Union Election Commission of Myanmar held a speech ceremony for international election observers at the Jasmine Hotel in Naypyidaw, reporting on the first phase of observations of the multi-party democratic general elections held on December 28 in 102 townships across the country. U Than Soe, Chairman of the Union Election Commission, presided over the ceremony and delivered a speech. Members of the Myanmar Election Commission, officials from relevant ministries, and representatives from observation delegations from China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and other countries attended.

  In his speech, U Than Soe emphasized that this election is an important milestone in Myanmar's national development and is crucial for the formation of parliaments at all levels and ensuring the government performs its duties in accordance with the law. He pointed out that the participation of international observers highlights the important value of transparency and fairness in the democratic process, and their observations will help improve Myanmar's democratic system. He also expressed sincere gratitude for the support and friendship provided by various countries and invited the observers to frankly share their monitoring experiences.

  Representatives of observers from various countries spoke in turn, unanimously affirming the successful holding of the first phase of the Myanmar general election. The Russian delegation praised the effective election organization, noting that the use of electronic voting machines improved voting efficiency and the credibility of the results, leading to high voter participation. Deng Xijun, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, observed orderly polling station organization, dedicated staff, and a peaceful and smooth election, believing it would contribute to national reconciliation and development in Myanmar. Representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, and other countries recognized the legitimacy and transparency of the election, finding the process standardized, security adequate, and no irregularities observed. They commended the use of modern methods such as electronic voting.

  It is understood that Myanmar's 2025 multi-party democratic general election will be conducted in three phases. The second phase will be held on January 11, 2026, and the third phase is scheduled for January 25. This election will produce members of the Union Parliament and state/regional parliaments. The new parliaments will elect a new president and form the federal government.
