
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – Following his delegation's observation of Myanmar's multi-party democratic election process, Russian State Duma Deputy Chairman Shourban Karaul met with Myanmar's Acting President and Chairman of the National Security and Peace Council, General Min Aung Hlaing, at his villa in Baiinnao, Naypyidaw yesterday afternoon.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on Deputy Chairman Karaul's observation of the Myanmar election process as part of an international election observation team, witnessing voters' free and active participation in the voting. They also discussed the election of qualified candidates to promote national development, a phased election plan, and arrangements for subsequent township elections.
Furthermore, they explored Myanmar's political progress and the enhancement of Myanmar-Russia bilateral friendship and cooperation, clarifying their commitment to further promoting cooperation in defense, economy, science and technology, education, legal affairs, culture, and parliamentary matters.
After the meeting, General Min Aung Hlaing and Deputy Chairman Karaul exchanged gifts and posed for a group photo with all attendees.
Representatives from Myanmar included General Ye Win Oo, Secretary-General of the National Security and Peace Council, council members, Foreign Minister U Than Swe, Finance and Tax Minister Dr. Kham Zaw, and other relevant officials. From Russia, Vice Chairman Karaur was accompanied by Russian Ambassador to Myanmar Iskandar Azizov and members of his delegation.
