Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government organized a joint law enforcement team comprised of security forces, administrative agencies, and local authorities to conduct a special operation in the Shwezigon and KK Park areas, raiding and systematically demolishing illegal buildings used for telecom fraud and online gambling activities, while also disposing of related evidence.

Yesterday, the joint enforcement team demolished five illegal buildings in the Myawaddy-Mettawale (KK Park) area, including three four-story buildings and two two-story buildings, all of which were telecom fraud and online gambling dens. It is understood that there are 635 such illegal buildings in the KK Park area, and 504 have been demolished so far.

To advance the demolition work, relevant departments have been using machinery and explosive devices since December 14th. To date, five two-story buildings in the area have been demolished, bringing the total number of buildings involved in the cases to 54, completely destroyed. To prevent the seized building materials from being reused in fraud and gambling activities in the Shwezigon and KK Park areas, law enforcement agencies have systematically burned the seized building materials.

The Myanmar government emphasizes that eradicating telecom fraud and online gambling crimes is a national responsibility. To prevent the resurgence of these illegal activities within the country, the government will continue to coordinate efforts from all domestic stakeholders and collaborate with neighboring governments to fully advance the crackdown.
