
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar Navy's Kyansittha, led by Captain Khun Aung Kyaw, returned to Yangon yesterday after completing the second ASEAN-US Maritime Exercise (AUMX 2) held in Indonesia from December 9th to 13th.
It is reported that the Kyansittha departed Yangon on December 3rd to participate in the joint exercise in Indonesia and arrived safely at Batam Island, Indonesia, on the morning of December 9th.
From December 9th to 11th, the ship's officers and crew attended the opening ceremony of the exercise and participated in various activities including live-fire drills, tabletop exercises, expert exchanges, recreational activities, a banquet, and site visits.
The second AUMX exercise covered a wide range of subjects, including maritime maneuvering, formation navigation, basic communication training using hand signals/flags/light signals, ship damage control, search and rescue, and maritime medical emergency response.
The exercise involved eight naval vessels and one helicopter from Myanmar, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, and the United States, with representatives from four ASEAN member states attending as observers.
During this mission, the INS Kyansittha covered a total distance of 2,700 nautical miles and successfully completed its tasks.
