Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government has clearly identified combating online fraud and gambling as a key national responsibility. These illegal activities not only disrupt domestic order in Myanmar but also pose a serious threat to regional and international security.
To completely eradicate the breeding ground for online fraud and gambling, the Myanmar government has adopted a coordinated domestic and international strategy. On the one hand, it coordinates domestic military operations; on the other hand, it actively deepens cooperation with neighboring governments to form a powerful joint force.
Recently, based on tips from concerned citizens seeking to maintain social peace and stability, Myanmar security forces identified a suspected fraud and gambling den near Pansin village in Hsipaw Township, northern Shan State, and launched a special raid yesterday.
At approximately 9:30 AM that day, while conducting a check in the area, security forces were suddenly attacked by two armed men inside a tent. The security forces immediately returned fire. After the gunfire subsided, security forces quickly entered the scene and successfully arrested three SSPP/SSA members, seizing one AK-47 rifle, one M-22 rifle, one MK-12 rifle, and one Point-22 rifle.
Further investigation revealed five Chinese citizens and one Burmese woman at the scene, all suspected of involvement in online fraud and gambling activities. A batch of related equipment was also seized, including 17 large tents and small shacks, 6 all-in-one computers, 70 laptops, 160 mobile phones, 10 iPads, 10 routers, 37 modems, 3 generators, 19 Starlink satellite dishes, as well as two four-wheel drive vehicles and one vehicle with a three-differential transmission.
Preliminary investigations indicate that approximately 200 people were involved in online fraud and gambling activities at this location. During the firefight, many suspects fled to the surrounding area.
The Myanmar government reiterated its commitment to maintaining a high-pressure crackdown on online fraud and gambling crimes nationwide. Relevant departments are actively collaborating with neighboring countries, regional nations, and international organizations to apprehend all individuals involved, including the masterminds, and to impose severe penalties according to law.
Currently, all seized items related to fraud and gambling, as well as weapons and ammunition, have been properly managed according to established procedures; those involved are undergoing further investigation and prosecution. Regarding foreign citizens involved, Myanmar will uphold humanitarian principles, consider bilateral relations, and arrange for their repatriation to their countries of origin in accordance with regulations.
