Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The opening ceremony of the 24th Myanmar Traditional Medicine Practitioners Conference and Symposium was held yesterday in Hall 1 of the Myanmar International Conference Center in Naypyidaw.

Guests attending the opening ceremony included members of the National Security and Peace Council (SSPC), Prime Minister U Nyunt Soe, ministers and deputy ministers of various Union ministries, senior officials of the defense forces, heads of relevant departments, ambassadors and chargés d'affaires of foreign embassies in China, and invited guests including officials from the Myanmar Medical Council and the Myanmar Traditional Medicine Council.

After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, SSPC member and Prime Minister U Nyunt Soe pressed the start button, officially opening the conference. A video address from Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar and Chairman of the National Security and Peace Council, General Min Aung Hlaing, was played at the opening ceremony (details of the video can be found on pages 1 and 4).

In his address, Prime Minister U Nyunt Soe stated that the government highly values the development of traditional medicine, consistently providing strong support, full respect, and active promotion. Currently, practitioners of traditional medicine in Myanmar are receiving systematic training from basic to associate's, bachelor's, and even master's levels, aiming to cultivate qualified professionals. He pointed out that this conference provided a platform for exchange between senior practitioners and the younger generation, facilitating the inheritance of academic knowledge and practical experience, which is of great significance to the continued development of Myanmar's traditional medicine. He also urged the younger generation to delve deeper into the field and contribute to its further development.

He emphasized that traditional medicine bears a crucial mission in implementing the Head of State's directive that "only those in good health can receive education and perform their work effectively; human life is paramount." Myanmar needs to strengthen cooperation to promote the development of traditional medicine in order to maintain its leading position in the domestic, ASEAN, and international traditional medicine fields. Therefore, it is necessary to further increase the promotion of Myanmar's traditional medicine, ensuring the safety and quality of traditional medicines, and achieving modernization, while cultivating more qualified personnel in the field.

Prime Minister U Nyunt Soe specifically pointed out the need to strengthen research on traditional medicines to prevent the loss of Myanmar's traditional medicine and to ensure the public can use traditional medical services with confidence. He reiterated that the government will continue to support and encourage the development of traditional medicine, while further improving and formulating relevant standards and guidelines. Currently, the government is providing full support in providing modern equipment and technology, equipping necessary human resources, developing key areas, and promoting education and training programs. He emphasized that protecting and promoting the nation's traditional medicine resources and value system, and preventing their decline and extinction, is the national obligation and responsibility of the younger generation.

Following this, Prime Minister U Nusso watched video clips introducing initiatives for the development of traditional medicine and related cultural performances, took a group photo with all participants, and also visited the various booths at the event.
