Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government has formed a joint task force comprised of security forces, administrative agencies, and local authorities to conduct raids on illegal buildings in Shwe Kokko and KK Park (Myawaddy-Mettawale area). These buildings were used for telecom fraud and online gambling activities. The joint task force has systematically demolished confiscated items and illegal structures.
Yesterday, the joint enforcement team demolished 12 illegal buildings in the Myawaddy-Mettawale (KK Park) area, including two four-story buildings and ten two-story buildings. To date, 333 of the 635 illegal buildings in the KK Park area have been demolished, marking significant progress in the crackdown.
Meanwhile, a special operation targeting illegal buildings in the Shwe Kokko area, launched on November 18, continues unabated. A total of 694 buildings in the area are involved in telecom fraud and online gambling. Currently, 169 buildings have been inspected and verified, of which 161 have been sealed off by the joint task force and are prohibited from being used again.
To prevent the seized items from being used again in telecom fraud and online gambling activities, the joint task force has systematically burned related items seized in KK Park and Riykok areas. Meanwhile, the Illegal Foreigners Investigation Team has completed the identity verification of foreign citizens detained in the aforementioned areas. The joint task force is proceeding with necessary procedures such as collecting personal data and document recording, with the aim of repatriating them to their countries of origin as soon as possible.
The Myanmar government has clearly stated that eradicating telecom fraud and online gambling crimes is a core national responsibility. To completely prevent the spread of such illegal activities within the country, the government will continue to coordinate with various domestic forces and strengthen cooperation with neighboring governments to promote the normalization and long-term effectiveness of the crackdown.
