
Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Myanmar government is conducting joint operations in the Shwe Kok area, KK Park, and Myawaddy-Mettawale (Kota Kinabalu Park) area, focusing on combating telecommunications fraud and online gambling. This operation, led by a joint team of security personnel and administrative officials, includes entering the areas in question, demolishing illegal structures, searching locations involved in the crimes, and taking appropriate legal measures.
Operation Progress and Investigations: The joint team focused on three key areas in the Myawaddy-Mettawale region, concentrating on demolishing illegal structures used for online gambling and telecommunications fraud. To date, in the third area alone, 246 out of 635 illegal structures involved in the crimes have been demolished, including 9 yesterday alone. Meanwhile, law enforcement officers also searched 41 buildings yesterday, but no computers, mobile phones, or other electronic devices involved in the crimes were found.
Regarding the arrest of individuals, yesterday's operation resulted in the detention of 195 individuals, including 181 Chinese citizens, 6 Malaysian citizens, 1 Kenyan citizen, 2 Filipino citizens, 2 Sierra Leonean citizens, 1 Malawi citizen, and 2 citizens from Taiwan. To date, this series of operations has resulted in the detention of 2,042 foreign nationals suspected of illegal entry, and the seizure and systematic destruction of 3,098 computers, 21,750 mobile phones, 102 Starlink satellite receivers, and 22 routers. All equipment was used for telecommunications fraud or online gambling activities.
Personnel Handling and Repatriation: Currently, the arrested foreign nationals are being held in a designated location within the Longtin compound in Rikhok Myo village, Puwepu village, Myawaddy Township. Yesterday, the illegal foreigners investigation team completed the identity verification and personal information collection for 144 foreign nationals, paving the way for their swift repatriation.
According to statistics, between January 30 and November 26, 2025, Myanmar authorities detained 12,882 foreign citizens who had illegally entered the country. Of these, 12,687 underwent repatriation proceedings after review, and 10,029 have successfully returned to their countries of origin via Thailand through legal procedures. The remaining 2,853 foreign nationals have completed repatriation preparations and are currently receiving proper resettlement and care.

The Myanmar government has clearly stated that eradicating telecom fraud and online gambling crimes is a national responsibility. To completely prevent the spread of such illegal activities within the country, the authorities will continue to integrate domestic law enforcement resources and strengthen coordination and cooperation with neighboring governments, resolutely advancing the crackdown to uphold the dignity of the law and social order.
