Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – To eradicate cross-border crimes such as telecom fraud and online gambling, the Myanmar government has recently been conducting joint operations in key areas including the Shwe Kok region, KK Park, and Myawaddy-Mettawale (Kota Kinabalu Park). Through measures such as demolishing illegal structures used in these crimes, seizing criminal equipment, and repatriating illegal immigrants, the government is determined to curb the spread of these illegal activities within the country.
It is understood that this operation is being carried out by a joint working group formed by the security department and administrative agencies. The core tasks include conducting a comprehensive investigation of the areas involved, legally demolishing illegal structures used for criminal activities, and investigating and disposing of related personnel and equipment. In the three key control areas of the Myawaddy-Mettawale region, the working group has demolished 237 out of 635 planned illegal structures. Yesterday alone, the demolition of 9 illegal structures was completed, and 100 computers used in the crimes were seized on the spot. In addition, the task force conducted special searches of one 12-story building, 16 three-story buildings, 12 two-story buildings, and two one-story buildings within the area, and found no clues related to fraud or gambling, nor any related electronic devices.

To date, the series of crackdown operations has achieved significant results: a total of 1,847 foreign citizens illegally entering the country have been detained; 3,098 computers, 21,750 mobile phones, 102 Starlink satellite receivers, and 22 routers have been seized and systematically destroyed, cutting off the support for criminal activities at the hardware level. Regarding the handling of personnel, the arrested foreign nationals have been centrally housed at a designated resettlement point in Puwep Village, Myawaddy Township. Relevant departments have completed the identity verification of 200 individuals, and yesterday, 51 undocumented immigrants were lawfully repatriated, with their personal information simultaneously registered.

From the overall crackdown period, between January 30 and November 25, 2025, Myanmar authorities detained 12,687 foreign citizens who had illegally entered the country. Of these, 12,343 underwent compliance checks and were subsequently repatriated. 10,029 have successfully returned to their countries of origin via Thailand, and the remaining 2,658 are ready for repatriation and are currently receiving proper resettlement and living support.
The Myanmar government has clearly stated that eradicating telecom fraud and online gambling is a crucial national responsibility, concerning social stability and the rights of its citizens. To ensure zero resurgence of such illegal activities within the country, the authorities will continue to integrate domestic law enforcement resources while strengthening coordination and cooperation with neighboring governments to build a joint cross-border crime prevention and control system, resolutely safeguarding national governance order and regional security and stability.
