Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On the afternoon of August 28, Cambodian People's Party (CPP) President Hun Sen met with a delegation led by U Khin Aik, President of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) of Myanmar, in Phnom Penh. The two sides held fruitful talks and jointly signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two parties, marking a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.
Prior to the signing ceremony, President Hun Sen warmly welcomed President U Khin Aik and his delegation. President Hun Sen pointed out that this visit was of great significance and would strongly promote friendly cooperation between the two parties and even the two countries. President U Khin Aik expressed his gratitude for the warm reception from President Hun Sen and highly praised President Hun Sen's outstanding leadership and the great achievements of the CPP. He reiterated that the USDP is willing to continue strengthening cooperation between the two parties in various fields, especially in youth exchanges.
During the talks, President U Khin Aik briefed President Hun Sen on the current situation in Myanmar and the general election scheduled for the end of 2025, and formally invited President Hun Sen to visit Myanmar at an appropriate time. Prince Hun Sen stated that 2025 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Myanmar, and bilateral relations have entered a mature stage of development. The signing of this memorandum will further consolidate cooperation between the two sides within multilateral and bilateral frameworks.
Prince Hun Sen also shared the Cambodian People's Party's valuable experience in organizational development, improving people's livelihoods, and electoral competition, emphasizing the importance of a smooth transfer of power and the training of young cadres. He encouraged Myanmar to proceed with the electoral process according to the established plan and respect the final choice of the Myanmar people.
Prince Hun Sen gladly accepted President U Khin Aik's invitation to visit Myanmar and wished the Myanmar delegation a successful visit to Cambodia.
