The Lao-Myanmar Friendship Association held its first bilateral meeting.

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 17, 2025, the Lao-Myanmar Friendship Association and its counterpart, the Myanmar-Laos Friendship Association, held their first formal meeting in Vientiane, marking a new step forward in diplomatic cooperation between the two peoples.

  This meeting followed the arrival of a Myanmar delegation led by Brigadier General Win Maung, Chairman of the Myanmar-Laos Friendship Association, in Laos. Brigadier General Win Maung visited Laos from November 16 to 20 at the invitation of the Lao side.

  The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Chanthavong Senjamatmunti, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Lao National Assembly and Chairman of the Lao-Myanmar Friendship Association, and Brigadier General Win Maung of Myanmar. Mr. Aung Ko, Myanmar Ambassador to Laos, along with other members of the association and officials from relevant departments of both sides, also attended the meeting.

  During the meeting, the two associations reviewed past cooperative activities and outlined future plans, emphasizing their role in strengthening mutual understanding and public awareness of the long-standing ties between the two countries.

  Both sides agreed to serve as a coordination platform to promote good relations and cooperation between the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepening people-to-people diplomacy and promoting positive interaction through joint activities.

  The Myanmar delegation also paid a courtesy call on Mr. Valasay Lhunsawad, Vice Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee. Mr. Valasay praised the visit for its important contribution to enhancing friendship between the two countries and briefed the delegation on the current socio-economic development of Laos.

  Brigadier General Win Maung expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality and reiterated Myanmar's commitment to strengthening cooperation through friendship associations.

  During the visit, the delegation also visited historical and cultural sites in Vientiane and Luang Prabang, further promoting cultural exchanges between the two countries.
