
Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) Since the beginning of the coldest period of winter, temperatures in Liaoning Province have remained persistently low, with the highest temperature reaching the lowest recorded for the same period since 1967. In some areas of the northeast, the lowest temperature dropped below -36℃, making it feel extremely cold. The Liaoning Provincial Meteorological Department reminds the public to take precautions against the cold, and relevant departments need to guard against the adverse effects of low temperatures on energy supply, agricultural facilities, and other sectors.
According to monitoring data from the Liaoning Provincial Meteorological Department, from January 17th to 20th, the average temperature in Liaoning reached -15.7℃, 6.2℃ lower than the average for the same period, the lowest since 2017. The average highest temperature across the province was only -10.9℃, 7.7℃ lower than the average for the same period, breaking the record for the lowest temperature for the same period since 1967; the average lowest temperature dropped to -19.5℃, 4.9℃ lower than the average for the same period, also the lowest since 2017.

The northeastern region became the "core area" of this extreme cold weather, with daily minimum temperatures consistently below -30℃. Xifeng County experienced three consecutive days of extreme low temperatures: -34.8℃ on January 17th, -36.7℃ on January 19th, and -36.5℃ on January 20th, successively breaking the record for the lowest temperatures in Liaoning Province. The province's temperature reached its lowest point this month on January 20th, a dramatic drop compared to the coldest period of winter. (End)
