Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – The latest data released by the Credit Department of Cambodia shows that in the third quarter of 2025, applications for personal loans to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Cambodia increased by 4.5% quarter-on-quarter, strongly reflecting the continued active market demand for financing.

This quarter, Cambodia's credit structure showed a clear divergence. Loans for asset purchases increased significantly by 26.4% quarter-on-quarter, while equity loans also achieved a 12.2% increase, indicating strong demand from enterprises for expanding asset size and equity investment. Agricultural loans decreased by 23.1% quarter-on-quarter, and construction loans decreased by 7.2%, indicating a slowdown in credit demand in these two sectors this quarter.

Regional credit performance varied significantly, with the highlands showing a particularly strong increase in asset purchase loans, reaching 38.7%. Agricultural loans in coastal areas experienced a more significant decline, decreasing by 42.6%. Despite the structural adjustments, the total amount of applications across the five loan categories achieved a robust growth of 11.8% this quarter.

Ouk Sotha, CEO of the Credit Authority of Cambodia, pointed out that although the total number of credit accounts decreased slightly by 0.6% to 1.78 million, credit quality remained stable. The non-performing loan (NPL) rate remained at 7.4%, and total credit card balances reached US$36.18 billion. These figures fully demonstrate the healthy development of Cambodia's micro, small and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) credit market.
