Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – Ye Xiaoyang, Deputy General Manager of the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project, stated in Kuala Lumpur on the 29th that as of the end of March this year, the overall construction progress of the ECRL project had reached 93%, entering a crucial stage of final sprint and decisive victory.
The ECRL is 665 kilometers long, running from Kota Bharu in the east to Port Klang in the west, traversing the peninsula from north to south, passing through the four states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Selangor. As the largest economic and trade cooperation project between China and Malaysia, the ECRL is a flagship project of the high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative between China and Malaysia, and also the largest single transportation infrastructure project under construction overseas by Chinese enterprises.
“During the ten-year construction period, the ECRL project has created more than 23,000 jobs in Malaysia and neighboring countries, and has more than 2,000 local suppliers and partners, effectively boosting Malaysia's economic development,” said Ye Xiaoyang at the launch ceremony of the documentary “Why Sail?” (ASEAN Episode) held that day.
China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) and the owner, Malaysia Rail Link (MRL), jointly launched the "China-Malaysia Railway Talent Training Program," aiming to train 5,000 professional railway personnel for Malaysia. To date, 2,360 people have been trained.
Ye Xiaoyang stated that currently, 260 Malaysian trainees are studying and training at the Liuzhou Railway Vocational and Technical College in Guangxi. Upon returning home, they will become the first batch of operation and maintenance personnel for the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL).
"We are going all out to ensure that the first phase of the project (nearly 520 kilometers from Kota Bharu to Gombak) is operational as planned in January 2027," said Ye Xiaoyang. (End)
