Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On February 10th, local time, the Permanent Mission of China to UNESCO hosted the 2026 Spring Festival Temple Fair at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France. Intangible cultural heritage cuisine from Taizhou, Zhejiang Province, China, made a splendid appearance during the event, using the unique flavors of "harmony between mountains and sea" as a medium to tell the world about the cultural heritage of Chinese cuisine.

Taizhou, located on the southeastern coast of China, is nestled between mountains and the sea. This natural landscape, where mountains and sea meet, has nurtured a local culinary tradition that emphasizes "authentic flavors, seasonality, and respect for nature." At the event, the Taizhou delegation vividly outlined the culinary culture from the natural endowments of mountains and sea, the ingenuity of intangible cultural heritage craftsmanship, to modern urban life through demonstrations of intangible cultural heritage cooking techniques and cultural interpretations, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the unique charm of Taizhou cuisine.

At the "Taste of Taizhou" tasting exhibition area, Lin Meijun, expert consultant for Taizhou's application to become a "City of Gastronomy" and a representative inheritor of Taizhou cuisine's intangible cultural heritage, led his team in preparing classic Taizhou dishes such as "Braised Yellow Croaker with Rice Stove," showcasing the core characteristic of Taizhou cuisine: "harmony between mountains and sea." He stated that behind every Taizhou dish lies not only a unique flavor on the palate but also the natural bounty of the land and the wisdom of generations of Taizhou people in their daily lives. He also demonstrated food carving at the event, using a horse design to symbolize "instant success."

The fresh and crisp "Xian Da Da," the soft and glutinous "Nu Ji Ji," and the sweet and lingering "Tian Mi Mi" have become the distinctive labels of Taizhou cuisine. Its core essence lies in respecting the original flavor of the ingredients and following the rhythms of nature. Several foreign guests at the event expressed that through Taizhou cuisine, they truly felt the philosophy of harmonious coexistence between people and nature in China's coastal cities, and the wisdom of development. The event also featured multilingual displays of images and text, comprehensively showcasing the achievements of Taizhou's food industry development, the construction of its intangible cultural heritage protection system, and the effectiveness of its ecological environment governance, vividly illustrating the deep integration of food culture and sustainable development concepts.

According to reports, Taizhou is using its cuisine as a "bridge" to convey to the world the profound heritage of excellent traditional Chinese culture and the city's open and inclusive spirit. This flavor of Taizhou, embodying the concept of "harmony between mountains and sea," injects lasting momentum into promoting mutual learning among civilizations and contributing to the city's high-quality development.
