Southeast Asia Information Port News (December 29, local time) – South Korea's Ministry of National Defense dismissed former Counterintelligence Commander Yeo In-hyung and former Capital Defense Command Commander Lee Jin-woo for their alleged involvement in the martial law declaration imposed on December 3, 2019. Former Army Special Forces Commander Kwak Jong-geun was also dismissed.
It is reported that on December 3, the day then-President Yoon Seok-youl declared martial law, he instructed Counterintelligence Commander Yeo In-hyung to arrest key political figures. Yeo In-hyung was dismissed by the Ministry of National Defense on December 6 and subsequently faced multiple charges from prosecutors, including allegations of sedition and abuse of power.
