Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The 2025 Bath World Peace Forum and the China Dehua-Huian Cultural and Art Week were held on the 18th local time at the China Cultural Center in Paris.
The event was jointly organized by the China Public Diplomacy Association, the China Foundation for Peace and Development, the French National Commission for UNESCO, the China Cultural Center in Paris, the EU-China Exchange Association, the European Peace and Development Center of the United Nations University for Peace, and the Fujian Provincial Association for Promoting Friendship and Exchange with Foreign Countries. Themed "Bass of the World, A Totem of Peace," the event, through in-depth dialogue and practical actions, witnessed the global dissemination and implementation of peace culture, injecting valuable grassroots power into promoting the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
In her welcoming remarks, Wang Meng, Director of the China Cultural Center in Paris, pointed out that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the 80th anniversary of the retrocession of Taiwan, and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. Looking back on history, we should cherish peace even more. This forum and art week aim to promote understanding, respect, and cooperation, allowing the concept of peace to take root and grow among different civilizations.
During the keynote speeches, representatives from political, academic, and international organizations engaged in in-depth exchanges on the peace culture represented by Bas. Qu Xing, Deputy Director-General of UNESCO, emphasized that the giant panda "Bas" has become a symbol of unity and peace, and this "messenger of peace" has inspired and influenced millions worldwide. It is precisely based on this shared pursuit of unity and peace that all parties were able to gather today. Alexandre Navarro, Secretary-General of the French National Commission for UNESCO, pointed out that the forum's core focus on cross-cultural exchange aligns perfectly with UNESCO's mission to promote mutual learning among civilizations and foster cultural understanding.
Xu Jianguo, Secretary-General of the China Foundation for Peace and Development, stated that Bas has evolved from an individual life into an "intangible symbol of peace," embodying the concepts of friendliness, inclusiveness, and symbiosis. This resonates with China's cultural wisdom of "harmony without uniformity" and "a world for all," and is also highly consistent with UNESCO's mission of dialogue among civilizations. Luo Linquan, Vice President of the China Public Diplomacy Association, emphasized that holding a forum themed around Bas aims to disseminate the cultural value of "harmony and coexistence," unite global forces that love peace, and jointly build a beautiful and harmonious world.
Yang Yongjin, founder of the Bath Public Welfare Alliance, reviewed the forum's development, stating that since its inception in 2019, the forum has always adhered to its original aspiration of "turning the desire for peace into concrete actions." This year's forum, upgraded to the World Peace Forum, represents a further deepening of the practical concept of peace and public welfare.
During the forum, a series of globally-oriented achievements were announced and cultural activities took place, including the launch of a global public welfare logo for world peace culture, the release of the "Bass Cultural Declaration," and a think tank forum.
As an important component of the forum, the China Dehua-Huian Cultural and Art Week was held concurrently, deepening exchanges between Chinese and foreign civilizations through the unique expression of Eastern aesthetics. Models from China and France showcased contemporary fashion inspired by traditional Hui'an women's clothing. The interplay of traditional cultural elements with Western music and contemporary expression vividly presented "the resilience and grace of the Eastern coastline."
The concert "Echoes of Mountains and Seas" centers on the narrative of "Hui'an Women," showcasing cultural memories and the spirit of women originating from the Maritime Silk Road through a cross-genre dialogue between the guqin, saxophone, and percussion, combined with dance and sand painting. It presents an Eastern story to an international audience using modern artistic language.
The "China White Porcelain · Dehua Porcelain · Paris Exhibition" also opened concurrently, with dozens of exquisite Dehua white porcelain pieces drawing praise from guests. Dehua white porcelain, "pure white as jade and warm and smooth as cream," has become an important cultural symbol for the world to understand China due to its pure quality. (End)
