Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Chen Hai and Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister Lwin Oo signed the project agreement.
Chen Hai stated that the signing of the 2024 Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund Myanmar Project Cooperation Agreement is not only an important measure to implement the consensus reached at the Fourth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Leaders' Meeting, but also a vivid manifestation of the friendly relations and cooperation between China and Myanmar over the past 74 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Chen Hai said that Myanmar is an important participant, promoter, and beneficiary of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation. Facing unprecedented changes in a century and focusing on the future of the people of all countries in the region, Lancang-Mekong countries should jointly further expand and strengthen Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and build a closer Lancang-Mekong community with a shared future oriented towards peace and prosperity. China is willing to continue to work with Myanmar to earnestly implement the Lancang-Mekong projects, so that more cooperation results can benefit the people of Myanmar.
Myanmar Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Than Hsin stated at the signing ceremony that Myanmar and China are traditional friendly neighbors with a long-standing and enduring friendship, and bilateral relations have become increasingly close over the past 74 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties. Myanmar is willing to work with its Lancang-Mekong partner countries, upholding the shared destiny and common interests, to jointly promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity.
The 12 projects signed this time will support Myanmar's development and improvement of people's livelihoods in various fields, including agriculture, poverty reduction, trade, and innovation.
