Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) From February 19th to 21st, 2026, His Excellency Mr. Sihasak Phonkhekcho, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia, led a delegation of members of the diplomatic corps and their spouses to Surat Thani Province, Thailand, for a study visit. As an important part of the 2026 Cambodia-Thailand diplomatic exchange activities, the delegation focused on attending a project briefing and participating in a series of exchange activities at the Ratchaprapap Dam, aiming to gain a deeper understanding of the implementation effectiveness of the Royal Thai Initiative project, the country's development potential, and the achievements in building national identity.

During the visit, the delegation learned in detail about the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT)'s operation and management system at the Ratchaprapap Dam through a special video presentation, as well as the current status of tourism promotion and development in Surat Thani Province. Subsequently, the delegation conducted a site visit to the dam facilities by boat, where student representatives from Surat Thani Rajabhat University explained the dam's construction history, technical features, and strategic significance. It is understood that the dam, with hydropower and other renewable energy development as its core, not only provides important support for the scientific allocation of Thailand's water resources and regional economic development, but also serves as a key infrastructure to ensure the stable operation of Thailand's southern power system.

This visit, through a combination of discussions and site visits, provided the Cambodian diplomatic corps in Thailand with a platform to gain a direct understanding of Thailand's major engineering projects, energy development strategies, and regional governance experience, further solidifying the foundation for bilateral exchanges between Cambodia and Thailand.
