Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) On the evening of June 14th, the Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Ho Chi Minh City held a commemorative event marking the 126th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of the Philippines (June 12, 1898 – June 12, 2024) and the 48th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the Philippines (July 12, 1976 – July 12, 2024).
Ms. Tran Thi Myo Thuy, Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, delivered a speech on behalf of the city's leadership, congratulating the Philippines on its development achievements over the years. She noted that the Philippines, as one of the most dynamic economies, has contributed to the economic prosperity, security, and stability of Southeast Asia and the Pacific region.
Ms. Tran Thi Myo Thuy stated that in the nearly 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1976, and especially since the establishment of a strategic partnership between the two countries in 2015, Vietnam and the Philippines have achieved fruitful results in cooperation across various fields, including politics, economy, and culture, bringing tangible benefits to both countries and contributing to regional peace, stability, cooperation, and development.
Ms. Tran Thi Myo Thuy emphasized that Ho Chi Minh City will strive to promote relations with the Philippines, particularly in the areas of economy, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges, contributing to the development of the Vietnam-Philippines strategic partnership.
Philippine Ambassador to Vietnam, Menardo Los Barnos Montallegre, stated that the positive partnership between the Philippine Embassy and the Honorary Consulate General in Vietnam, along with the city's leaders and people, has contributed to the promotion of bilateral relations between the Philippines and Vietnam.
Ambassador Menardo Los Barnos Montallegre expressed his hope to develop relations with the Vietnamese government and people, and to earnestly celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Vietnam-Philippines strategic partnership and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026.
