Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Macao SAR Government held a flag-raising ceremony and reception on the 20th to celebrate the 26th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.
The reception celebrating the 26th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China was held at 9:30 a.m. at the Complex of the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Trade and Economic Cooperation Service Platform. In his speech, Chief Executive Cen Haohui stated that Macao will follow President Xi Jinping's important instructions, more actively align itself with national development strategies, formulate and implement the Macao SAR's "Three-Five" Plan, and achieve better development in the new journey of serving the construction of a strong nation and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
Approximately 1,000 people attended the reception, including He Houhua, Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); Zheng Xincong, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR; Ho Iat Seng, former Chief Executive of the Macao SAR; Liu Xianfa, Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Macao SAR; Yu Changjiang, Commander of the PLA Macao Garrison; Zhang Yongchun, President of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao SAR; Song Minli, President of the Court of Final Appeal of the Macao SAR; principal officials of the Macao SAR government; members of the Executive Council; members of the Legislative Assembly; Macao deputies to the National People's Congress and members of the CPPCC; and representatives from various sectors.
Cen Haohui stated that it is essential to adhere to the bottom-line thinking of "being vigilant even in times of peace" and always prioritize safeguarding national security. He emphasized the need to resolutely promote public administration reform, build a modern legal system, strengthen the foundation of grassroots governance, comprehensively improve governance efficiency, and construct a "clean, efficient, and effective" service-oriented government. He stressed the importance of persistently focusing on breaking through the bottlenecks in the moderately diversified development of the economy and pragmatically accelerating the construction of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone. He also emphasized the need to actively integrate into and serve the overall national development strategy, proactively align with the national "15th Five-Year Plan," and scientifically formulate and implement the "3rd Five-Year Plan." He stated that the government will further attract talent from around the world, creating conditions and providing a platform for young people to showcase their abilities.
He indicated that the new year's policies will place greater emphasis on people-centered, precise measures, focusing on protecting residents' employment rights, strengthening social security and services, optimizing housing policies and the allocation of medical resources, and striving to meet the public's expectations for a peaceful and prosperous life.
Cen Haohui encouraged all sectors to work together diligently to build a Macao with a more efficient government, a more robust democratic and legal system, a more dynamic economy, a more vibrant culture, more refined social governance, and more inclusive public welfare.
Prior to the reception, approximately 550 SAR government officials and guests attended a flag-raising ceremony at the Golden Lotus Square.
