The former residence of General Ye Ting in Macau has reopened.

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government held a ceremony on the 3rd to reopen the former residence of General Ye Ting and unveil a bronze statue of General Ye Ting. The former residence of General Ye Ting, after renovations, reopened to the public today.

  Officials included Ko Lan, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of the Macao SAR Government; Wan Sucheng, Director of the Publicity and Culture Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in Macao; Leong Wai Man, Director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government; Qin Lan, Director of the Ye Ting Memorial Hall; and descendants of Ye Ting.

  This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Ye Ting Independent Regiment. At the ceremony, the officiating guests unveiled the bronze statue of General Ye Ting. It is understood that the former residence of General Ye Ting has been redesigned and expanded upon its original permanent exhibition. Through four sections – "People Must Aspire, Ye Must Rise"; "A Famous General of the Northern Expedition, A Legendary Iron Army"; "A Commander in the Flames of War, A Resolute Military Spirit"; and "Aspirations in Macao, Sharing Weal and Woe" – the exhibition systematically showcases Ye Ting's contributions to the cause of national independence and liberation, recreates the scene of his family's life in Macao, and demonstrates their deep connection with Macao. Leong Wai-man stated that the reopened former residence of General Ye Ting, along with other cultural and museum venues such as the Xian Xinghai Memorial Hall and the Lin Zexu Memorial Hall, will jointly celebrate the great spirit of patriotism and further inspire the patriotic enthusiasm of young people.

  The former residence of General Ye Ting is located at No. 76, Rua do Almirante Sérgio, Macau. It is a two-story Western-style house where his family lived from 1932 to 1942. The residence officially opened to the public in May 2014.
