Macau Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai delivers Policy Address for 2026

  Southeast Asia Information Port News (www.dnyxxg.com) – On November 18, Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai delivered his 2026 Policy Address to the Legislative Assembly, outlining the overall direction of the SAR government's policies for next year as: deepening administrative reform, strengthening diversification, precisely optimizing people's livelihoods, and integrating into the overall national strategy.

  Sam Hou Fai stated that in the first three quarters of this year, Macao's preliminary GDP was MOP 301.33 billion, representing a real year-on-year increase of 4.2%. Inbound tourist arrivals reached 29.67 million, including 1.89 million international visitors, representing increases of 14.5% and 12.4% respectively.

  In reviewing and summarizing the 2025 policy address, Cen Haohui stated that with the strong support of the mainland and the joint efforts of all sectors of society and the general public, the principle of "patriots governing Macao" has been effectively implemented in Macao. Public administration reform has been further deepened, economic recovery and moderate economic diversification have steadily progressed, new progress has been made in the construction of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone, social welfare work has been gradually optimized, regional cooperation has been continuously strengthened, and the SAR's economic and social development has been stable and progressive, with the main policy objectives and tasks basically achieved.

  In his policy address, Cen Haohui proposed the following main policy objectives for the SAR government in 2026: Continued economic recovery, substantial progress in moderate economic diversification, positive GDP growth, further improvement of the business environment, and continuous enhancement of economic vitality. New progress in the construction of the Hengqin Cooperation Zone, further strengthening of Macao-Hengqin integration. Effective protection of residents' employment, further optimization of livelihood work, and tangible care for vulnerable groups. Deepening administrative and legal reforms, further improving governance efficiency, effectively safeguarding national security, and maintaining social harmony and stability.
